Meet Mary Ellen Shea, M.S.
Mary Ellen Shea, a former resident of Sumter and Marion Counties and a former employee at Munroe Regional Medical Center and Hospice of Marion County has returned home to Ocala, Florida after gaining ten years of experience leading the restoration, renewal and revitalization of struggling hospice organizations.
As a veteran Hospice CEO and Executive Director in the states of North Carolina and Maryland, Mary Ellen spearheaded complex organizational projects, implemented and accomplished significant organizational change and successful culture redesign. She encouraged an open and questioning environment and unlocked the power of employee intellectual capital to eliminate and reconstruct outdated business practices.
Mary Ellen was awarded public recognition by the Board of Directors at Hospice and Palliative Care of Avery County in North Carolina for her leadership and vision during a period of great change. Her vision to expand end-of-life services throughout the mountain communities of northwest North Carolina led to the formation of a muti-geographic hospice organization which is now one of the largest hospices in western North Carolina
At Richmond County Hospice in Rockingham, NC and Talbot Hospice in Easton, MD she utilized her vision, creativity, and organizational skills to collaborate and coordinate the design and construction of two hospice inpatient units: the Hospice Haven Inpatient Center and the Eleanor A. Koons Hospice House.
Early on in her career and amongst one of her greatest accomplishments was the development and implementation of the first Physician Leadership Program at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Florida.
Mary Ellen equipped with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL, a Master’s Degree in Leadership and Management from National-Louis University, Evanston, IL, and Myers-Briggs certification recently initiated her Ocala-based consulting business, appleseeders.com.
